Southern Maryland Shotokan
Karate Club is a non-profit Karate club dedicated to practicing Shotokan Karate in cooperation with the St. Mary’s County Department
of Recreation and Parks. All students train in the fundamentals of stances,
punching, kicking, striking and blocking. Competetive
Karate is not emphasized. However, as the club is a member of the ISKF , there are
competitive avenues for those students interested in competition. Minimum
age for membership is 7. We have
students of all ages and from all walks of life.
Location:
We are located in St. Mary's County
Maryland. We
train at the Spring
Ridge Middle
School gymnasium. From the main gate of
NAWC-AD, take Rt. 235 South for about 4 miles. The school is on
the left. Park in the parking lot on the South side of the school and
enter through the row of 3 double doors that lead to the gym and cafeteria.
Training Times:
Tuesdays and Thursdays :
6-7 PM – beginners - ages 7-12
7-8 PM –
advanced - ages 13 and up
Fees:
You must register for each 10 week session with the St. Mary’s County Department
of Recreation and Parks. The fee is currently $60.00. The course description is here:
