Cut of Men's Clothes : 1600-1900 by Norah Waugh

I never thought I would ever sew. However, my brother Wes and I got the grandiose idea that we would make ourselves leather buff coats. We needed a pattern and started with research at the St. Mary's College library and found this book. Although neither one of us had ever sewn before, we were able to take the coat pattern from this book, adapt it to fit our bodies and sew a coat for ourselves out of buff leather. The only mistake that I made was that I first constructed my coat out of some old sheets to make sure it would fit. However, this did not take the thickness in the leather into account so I had to add in gusset pieces in the shoulders to make up for it. No problem, though. The book also has patterns for breaches, doublets, cassacks and sword hangars for the 17th centruy. If I could use the patterns in the book, than anyone with any skill will have no problems. This book is an awesome resource for those wishing to sew their own kit.

I don't own this one but it is by the same author as the book above. I would expect it to be of the same quality.
