The first thing to do is to contact one of the Points of Contact for the Militia to get more information on dates and locations of events and what is required to become a member. Everyone in the militia must supply their own kit. It is not too costly to start out. A simple farmer's outfit can be obtained for under $200. However, upgrading from there can become costly, with the most expensive items usually being a sword and musket. Therefore, it is recommended that you attend an event to see what it's like before plunging in.

A typical event consists of camp activities of the period and military drilling and demonstration. We do try to vary the activities throughout the year. For example, at some events we have live musketry and fencing competitions, as well as period dress and cooking competitions. Once you have decided to join, our members can provide you with a wealth of knowledge on where to find clothing and equipment.
